An question I’ve been wondering about myself came up on Facebook this week:
What quality does Mapillary render photos (on their web app and Mapillary JS)?
Similarly, I believe Google Street View also downscales. What is the quality of GSV images?
Maybe the answer to these questions is; it depends (i.e. quality is determined by bandwidth).

For Mapillary it appears they will load higher resolution on request (when you zoom in). See:
